Djarot: Trash Processing should Be Tiered

It should be done, starting from the level of household, RT, RW, urban village, sub-district, and city. This aims to reduce the trash volume

Besides flood and traffic congestion, trash is also one of the serious problems that must be solved in the capital. No wonder, Jakarta can produce more than 6,000 tons per day.

To solve it, residents were urged to sort the trash earlier. By doing so, its volume is hoped can be reduced and recycled by them. 

Trash Hauler Team Ready to Solve Trash Problem in S. Jakarta

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat expressed although Jakarta Provincial Government has a land as wide as 180 hectares namely Bantar Gebang Landfill, Bekasi, yet the trash cannot always be disposed to the land. "We can't continue to rely on the Bantar Gebang Landfill," he expressed, at City Hall, Tuesday (2/24).

Hence, he disclosed the trash processing is important to overcome the problem. "It should be done, starting from the level of household, RT, RW, urban village, sub-district, and city. This aims to reduce the trash volume," he uttered.

Former Mayor of Blitar also wanted every city in Jakarta has a trash processing technology into energy. He then instructed Jakarta Cleanliness Department to socialize it from household until city level. Trash sorting could be adjusted with trashes type organic and inorganic.

Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department, Saptastri Ediningtyas added in future, trash problem will be handled by involving residents. It is compliance with Bylaw No. 3/2013 on Trash Processing. "So, we try to sort trash gradually this year," she uttered.
